Year-Round / Magnet Schools Application for 2022-2023
To begin, login to your parent account, or create a new parent account if you do not already have one. (You do not need to create a new parent account each year) Once logged in, you will be able to submit applications for your students that are currently registered with Wake County Public School System.
You may select any available year-round application choices and / or a maximum of 5 magnet schools. Only apply to schools you wish to attend. If you are not satisfied with your magnet or year-round school placement, you may apply to attend your base school during the Request for Transfer Period at the end of February 25 - March 11, 2022. "Back to base" requests submitted during this transfer period are guaranteed to be approved unless the school has an enrollment cap.
This application is ONLY for students that are enrolled or pre-registered to attend a Wake County Public School for the 2022-2023 school year. Any application submitted for a student that is not enrolled or pre-registered for the 2022-2023 school year will not be processed.
Students that are not currently attending a WCPSS school in grades K-11 will need to pre-register at the base school for their address prior to beginning this application.
STUDENTS APPLYING TO LANGUAGE IMMERSION SCHOOLS:
Language Immersion programming for the 2022-2023 school year is available for application for students in grade K -1 at Smith and Dillard Drive, grades K-5 at Jeffreys Grove, Hodge Rd. and Stough Magnet Elementary Schools, and grades K-1 at Dillard Drive and Smith Elementary Schools, as well as grades 6-8 at Oberlin Magnet Middle School.
Immersion Programs start in kindergarten and require no prior assessment. Any students initially selected in grades 1-5 must also show language mastery for the requested grade level in order to be assigned as a magnet student to an Immersion Magnet School.
Students in grades 1-10 that are initially selected will:
1) Be contacted by the Immersion Magnet School to schedule an Immersion Assessment to determine the student’s language level.
2) If it is determined that the student’s language level is NOT at an appropriate level for the assigned grade, the Office of Magnet & Curriculum Enhancement Program will be notified by the school and the student will be assigned back to their previously assigned school for the next school year.
If it is determined that the student’s language level is at an appropriate level for the assigned grade, then the student will be contacted by the Magnet Immersion School to finalize their assignment at the school.
